Beschreibung: In the course, urban challenges are explored that relate to the digital transformation of our cities. How do digital technologies such as the “Internet of Things”, “Geoinformation Systems”, “Building Information Models” or “Digital Twins” shape the future of urban environments? How can academic research and training give effective support in the face of accelerating urbanization worldwide? Do concepts of digital cities and sustainable urbanism converge into a new paradigm? A basis for the course is given by the various research projects by the Digital City Science group @ HCU. The bi-weekly course introduces new tools that are developed and explored in the Digital City Science context, and sets them into a scientific and technological context. The course is structured around impulse lectures, group discussions, and experimental work sessions. As their final course work, students may either conceptualise a digital prototype tool or product, or write a scientific paper on one of the themes presented in the course.
