Beschreibung:
Our daily lives in the city of Hamburg are interwoven with technologies that shape not only individual lives, but also the way the city is informed, planned, and built. They greatly influence the key components of human settlements: Mobility, energy, water, health, education, housing, public services, public space, public administration, environment and physical infrastructure.
Now imagine you were responsible in a city of millions with hardly any online connections. According to ITU, 3.7 people were without online connections in 2019. People in your city might have mainly individual mobility, expensive water, self-organized energy and housing, lack of healthcare and education as a result of missing or insufficient data or public administration. The problems are big. But they are also an inspiration for you to redesign and transform the terrain you care about.
With case studies from around the world, UN Habitat has published a series of Playbooks to inspire and promote digital transformation for people-centered smart cities. In this lecture series organized by UNITAC Hamburg, we invite various guests who have been involved in compiling the Playbook series.

UNITAC Hamburg is an interdisciplinary research lab that develops and implements technologies. It is based in a local testbed in Hamburg and aims to transfer ideas and solutions to the global South. The team develops technologies, prototypes and applies research methods to develop innovative solutions that accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Each date of the course will highlight a different aspect of urban challenges using a running project as practical example. For each presentation the students will deliver additional products such as protocols, research reports and diaries. They organize moderation and discussion and prepare a final report.
