Beschreibung: Many cities in developing countries are facing rapid growth accompanied by radical social, economic, ecologic and spatial upheavals. The course provides an overview about global urbanization processes and challenges accompanying the transformation of societies. Theoretical concepts will be reviewed within the specific context of selected countries. Among the topics to focus on are informal settlements, urban infrastructure, mobility, resources, sustainable development, climate change and migration. Urban governance in emerging and developing countries will be analyzed. Participative and cooperative approaches within planning and management of urban and regional systems shall be discussed based on case studies. Objectives: · Introduction of development cooperation as potential professional specialization for urban planners · Knowledge on major issues of urban development and transformation in emerging and developing countries During the lecture we will have short Inputs by various experts as: 14.11. Svenja Siemonsen & David Heck (GfA): Urban Partnership EU-India + Mobility Projects in South East Asia 12.12. Philipp Schuck (GIZ): International Agendas (SDGs, NUA) + 2 GIZ-Projekte in deren Rahmen. 19.12. Johanna Sztucki (GIZ): Konflikte & Konfliktbewältigung in der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit und Projekten der GIZ. 9.1. Sophie Naue (urbanista): Informal Settlements (in Buenos Aires und Bogotá) + deren "Urbanisierung"
